Why does nobody talk about how loud those lightweight tents are?
I took my new ultralight tent out to Big Sur last weekend and I swear I heard every leaf moving for miles. It was a calm night, maybe 5 mph wind, and the fabric was flapping like a tarp in a storm. My old Coleman from 2010 is twice the weight but dead silent. Am I missing something with these silnylon shelters or did I just pick a bad one?

@xena373 I think you're onto something with the pitch points, but my bigger issue was the stakes. I had to use rocks to hold down the corners and that fabric still sounded like a chip bag rustling all night.

Whoa hold up, I gotta disagree with you there. I run a Gossamer Gear silnylon and it's been totally quiet even in some nasty winds. Maybe you just got a tent with crappy pitch points?
