Back in 2015, I'd post a hot take on Twitter without a second thought.

Now I run every joke by my wife first, after a guy in my fantasy football group got fired for a dumb tweet. Anyone else have a pre-post checklist now?

My buddy Dave got absolutely roasted at a company town hall once. He made some dumb joke on LinkedIn about hating Mondays, and his boss pulled up the post on the big screen to talk about "brand representation." It was so awkward. Now he texts like three people before posting anything, even a picture of his lunch. The internet feels like a minefield now.

Wait they actually put his LinkedIn post on the big screen? That's next level messed up. I'd be looking for a new job after that kind of public shaming.

Honestly, this whole thing feels like people are just scared of their own shadows now. Look at what happened to @johnson.jesse's friend Dave. So his boss showed a dumb post at a meeting, big deal. It's a free country and we're allowed to have bad jokes and bad lunches online. Running every single thought by a committee is how you end up with a boring, empty internet where everyone sounds the same. The real minefield is letting companies or bosses police your personal life outside of work.
