Got called out at a local coffee shop for wearing a band tee from a cancelled singer

I was grabbing a latte at Brew & Grind downtown last Saturday, wearing an old shirt from a singer who got cancelled back in 2020 for some rough tweets. A guy at the counter recognized the band and started asking me how I could still support someone like that. I just wanted my coffee, not a debate about accountability. Has anyone else had a stranger call them out in public over stuff like this?

Ugh, that's rough. I wore an old Warped Tour shirt to the grocery store once and some teenager gave me a whole lecture about the band's drummer's politics. I just stood there holding a bag of frozen peas and said "ma'am this is a Weis Markets" in my head. At least you got a latte out of it, I guess?

Heard a similar story from my buddy @jennysullivan - a kid at a coffee shop grilled him about his 90s punk shirt while he was just trying to order a plain black coffee.
