I used to think online pile-ons were just people being loud until I saw one happen at my kid's school
Last fall, a parent in our PTA group in Cincinnati posted a bad take about the school play. Within two hours, over fifty people had commented, calling for her to be removed from the group. I watched it all happen on my phone, step by step. It wasn't about talking it out, it was about pushing her out completely. Seeing that real anger up close, not just on a screen, made me see how fast these things can ruin real community. Has anyone else seen a local issue blow up like that online?

But was it really a witch hunt?

Wow, honestly that's a pretty loaded question. I mean, yeah it really was a witch hunt. The way people piled on before they even knew the full story was insane. Mob mentality took over and nobody stopped to ask basic questions first. It's like people get a whiff of drama and they just run with it without thinking. Maybe some folks were just looking for someone to burn at the stake, you know? Tbh it just makes me lose faith in people a little bit every time I see this crap happen.

Sounds awful to watch that happen. I mean, it's crazy how fast a simple opinion can turn into a full-on witch hunt. Makes you scared to say anything at all these days.
