In 2016 I'd argue with strangers on Facebook for hours, now I just close the tab
Back around 2016 I got into a fight with a guy from my old office in Sacramento over some dumb comment he made about a movie. I typed like 2,000 words across three days trying to get him to admit he was wrong, screenshots and all. When the pile on came for me a few years later over a joke I made at a happy hour, I watched people I'd known for a decade go quiet or pile on without ever asking me what I actually meant. I tried the whole apology route once, wrote a long thing, and it just fed the machine for another week. Now when I see someone getting dragged over a years old post, I read it, feel bad, and scroll on. It's not that I stopped caring, I just got tired. When did you all stop jumping into the comments and start just watching from the sidelines?
