Just lost $60 on a fake coaching program that promised me gigs

I signed up for this freelance coaching thing last month that claimed to help me land music gigs. Paid $60 upfront and got nothing but generic PDFs and a zoom link that never worked. The guy deleted his whole social media page three days later. Anyone else fall for one of these 'industry insider' scams?

$60 is basically a price of a decent dinner, so maybe consider it a cheap lesson in doing your homework before handing over cash. A quick search of the coach's name with "scam" would have saved you the trouble. Real industry insiders don't need to sell PDFs to prove they can get you work.

Spot on, it's the same everywhere now with people selling shortcuts and calling it expertise.

Yeah totally agree with the "real industry insiders don't need to sell PDFs" bit. I fell for something similar a few years back with some "social media guru" who promised to get me brand deals for $75. Turned out the PDF was just a list of generic tips you could find on YouTube for free. I actually tried reaching out to a few of the brands they mentioned and none of them had ever heard of this person. It's wild how confident they sound until you actually dig a little. Now I always Google someone's name plus "review" or "scam" before I even think about clicking buy.
