My old boss in Denver told me to apologize hard and fast, and it got me fired anyway. Was he right?
Back in 2022 I got called out on a work Slack over a joke I made about our own team, and my boss Dave pulled me aside and said just say sorry and it dies in a day. So I posted a long apology, and it did not die. Two people screenshotted it, it spread to a group outside our company, and I lost a side gig that paid $800 a month. Dave still swears it saved my job. So who was right here, does a quick apology actually stop the pile-on or just feed it?
