That time my own teenage daughter called me out on double standards and I couldn't argue back
My 15 year old told me last week that I'm part of the problem with cancel culture. She saw me sharing a post about some musician getting canceled for old comments and asked why I was so quick to judge someone I've never met. She said 'you always tell me people can change, but then you act like they can't.' Honestly, she was right and it stung. Has anyone else had a family member make you look in the mirror like that?

Lots of teenagers think they've figured out the world in a day. A musician getting called out for old comments isn't exactly cancel culture, it's just consequences for being dumb on the internet. Sounds like she scored a point on a technicality, but real life is usually more complicated than that.

Honestly, I feel like I need to admit something here, @luna891. I used to be one of those people who thought cancel culture was always overblown and unfair, but this whole situation kinda shifted my view. Like, yeah, getting called out for old dumb stuff isn't necessarily canceling someone, it's just facing the music for being careless online. But seeing how quickly people jump on a technicality without considering the full picture makes me realize it's more complicated than I thought. It's easy to judge from the outside, but real life has all these messy layers that don't fit into a perfect argument.
