5,000 square feet in one day is supposed to be impossible, but I pulled it off on a church basement job last Tuesday
Had a crew of three and a good layout, and we finished by 3 PM with zero callbacks, so I guess all those years of hearing 'that pace isn't realistic' were just covering for slower installers, right?

Yeah that quote about other installers covering for themselves hits home. I've seen guys stretch a 2,000 foot floor job into three days just to make it look like they're thorough. It's not about the square footage being impossible, it's about having a system and actually moving instead of standing around talking. Church basements are usually pretty straightforward with open layouts and minimal obstacles, so 5k in a day with three people sounds doable if everyone knows their role. I hate when people act like speed equals cutting corners when really it just means you're not wasting time.

Had a helper ask me once if I was trying to set a world record for fastest flooring. I told him no, I just wanted to get home before my wife realized I left the garage door open again.
