A customer's comment about seams changed my whole layout process
Had a lady in Boise last Tuesday point at a seam I'd stretched and said, "you can see that line when the light hits it." I'd been doing seams the same way for 8 years, thinking my cuts were clean enough. She was right though, the backing had a slight gap under certain lighting. So I started running a knife along the edge twice and vacuuming the joint before I roll it, plus using a seam iron with more heat. It added maybe 4 minutes per room but now I can't find any lines even with a flashlight. Anyone else pick up a trick from a customer that you were lowkey annoyed to admit was good? Curious if the seam sealer brand matters as much as prep or if it's all in the cut.

Three years back a tenant told me my caulk lines looked "too perfect" and that's when I realized we often get blind to our own habits. It's funny how strangers see the things we've stopped noticing, whether it's a seam, a crooked picture, or the way we load a dishwasher. That 4 minutes you added sounds annoying but it's the small fixes that end up saving you the most headaches later.
