Found a simple trick for hiding seams on patterned carpet

I had a tough job matching a busy floral pattern last week in a Denver condo. I tried rolling the seams with a wooden seam roller instead of my metal one and it pressed the pattern together way cleaner. Has anyone else had better luck with wood rollers on tricky patterns?

Totally feel your pain on that one, I had a similar nightmare with a paisley pattern in a condo out in Aurora last month. Wood roller really saved me too, the metal one kept pushing the loops down and making the seam line way too obvious. I actually sanded down my wooden roller a little to get an even smoother glide on the backing, made a world of difference.

Wood roller is definitely the move on busy patterns, I read a blog post from that flooring forum a few months back that swore by it for floral stuff specifically. Same deal with the metal ones, they can kind of flatten the fibers weird and mess up the pattern alignment. The wood distributes pressure more even so the pile stays uniform. Works great on shag too if you ever get one of those nightmare jobs.

Yeah wood just handles pressure better than metal in general. Same reason old workbenches are all wood.
