Kicked a seam 4 times last Tuesday on a 12x15 bedroom

Every time I thought I had it perfect, the stretch would shift and that seam would pop right back up. Anybody else run into this with really thick berber, or is it just me?

Did you try using a power stretcher instead of a knee kicker? That thick berber can be a real pain because the backing is so stiff and the fibers don't give much room for the seam to lay flat. A power stretcher gives you way more control and a steady pull that wont let the carpet shift on you. You might need a helper to hold the seam together while you stretch from the other wall. Also, make sure you're trimming the seam edges clean and not leaving any loose fibers that can push the seam back up.

Oh man, have you checked the humidity in the room? Thick berber can absorb moisture from the air and swell up, which makes seams pop even when you stretch it perfectly.

@norag66 brings up a good point about humidity, but did you run the power stretcher at full extension or just a few clicks? Ive seen guys try to get away with knee kickers on berber and it never holds because the backing has zero give.
