My new shears trick saved me 30 minutes on a hallway job
Found out my old utility knife was dragging on tack strip corners, so I tried using my carpet shears at a low angle instead. Worked like a charm on a redo in Tulsa yesterday, anyone else switch tools mid-cut like that?

That part about your old utility knife dragging on tack strip corners hits home way too hard. I spent like two years fighting those exact corners with a dull blade and just assumed that was how the job was supposed to feel. Meanwhile the fix was sitting in my pouch the whole time, which is pretty sad when I actually say it out loud. Swapping tools mid-cut feels wrong at first but once you see how clean it comes out you never go back.
