Old timer told me to use a kicker not a power stretcher on stairs, lucky I didn't listen
Some guy named Larry with 40 years in the trade swore you only need a knee kicker for step nosing and risers. I tried his method on a tri-level in Phoenix and the carpet rippled at the bullnose after a week. Had to redo the whole set with a power stretcher and it laid flat perfect. Anyone else run into old school advice that just doesnt work with modern carpet?

Heard some old school guys swear by the knee kicker for stairs because they learned on tight woven wool that didn't stretch the same. Tbh modern nylon and polypropylene are way more forgiving but also more prone to that ripple if you don't really lock it in.
