Honestly, why does it feel like the most useful life lessons are the ones you can't just be told? You have to mess up and feel the sting yourself before it really sticks. I see it all the time with money, with friends, even just trying to fix something at home. The warning is there, but you don't really get it until you're picking up the pieces.

Yeah but what exactly was the sting for you? Was it having to tear out a job and start over, or was it dealing with a pissed off customer who kept hearing squeaks after you left? Because those are two completely different lessons and they hit way different. One messes with your bank account, the other messes with your reputation. Nobody really talks about which one hurts more until you've been through both.
