Unpopular opinion: I called BS on seam sealing tape for 6 years, then a water test humbled me
A lady in Fresno called me back after 3 weeks because her Berber seam was puckering right where the hallway meets the bedroom. I had always skipped the seam sealer thinking it was a gimmick the supply house pushed to make an extra $40, just ironed it flat and moved on. She poured half a cup of water on that seam in front of me and it soaked straight through the backing in about 20 seconds, no lie. I went back and redid all 40 yards of that job with sealer and the lift never came back. Any of you still running seams bare, or is it just me that got away with it for way too long?
Reminds me of a buddy who swore by cheap painter's tape for masking baseboards. Did a whole living room that way, felt real proud of himself. Two days later the tape peeled half the finish off the trim and he was out there with a razor blade and a touch up brush. Some corners are just not worth cutting, even when you think you know better. Man was real quiet about it too, which for him is saying something.
