Did you catch that Consumer Reports piece they ran last month about the failure rates on those? I remember skimming it and thinking "yikes." It basically said something like 3 out of 10 of those things have major issues within the first two years. That's way higher than the industry average for similar gear. Your story just confirms what I read, unfortunately. It's a bummer when big purchases go south like that.
