My sister said my 'struggle meal' rice and beans tasted like a restaurant, so I stopped buying canned beans
I used to buy canned black beans at $1.29 a can because I figured dried ones were too much work. My sister tried my rice and beans last month and said it tasted flat, like the beans were an afterthought. So I switched to a $2 bag of dried black beans from Food 4 Less and cooked them with onion, cumin, and a bay leaf. Same dish, but now I get about 6 meals out of that bag instead of 2, and it actually tastes like something. Does anyone have a good trick for freezing the extra beans so they don't get mushy when reheated?
