PSA: spent $34 on a 'discount' grocery haul at a bent can outlet in Cleveland, half of it was pure garbage
So there's this place off West 25th that sells dented cans and expired boxes for like 70 percent off, and I walked out with two full bags for $34 feeling like a genius. Got home and opened a can of peaches that was so dented the seal was shot, tasted like metal and regret, and the 'expired by one day' pasta sauce had a fuzzy ring inside the lid. My roommate watched me dump $18 worth of food straight into the trash and just said 'you did this to yourself.' Has anyone actually made a bent can store work, or is the lesson here to only buy stuff in boxes and never anything with a lid?
Half of it was pure garbage" sounds like user error to me, since you gotta shake, sniff, and press every single can before it goes in the cart. That fuzzy sauce lid was your one free lesson, so now you know to skip the lids and stick to boxes.
