The day I planned a whole free day around a heat wave and it actually worked

Last July we had that nasty stretch where it hit 97 by noon, and my AC was on the fritz. So I turned it into a free day. Hit the city pool at 9am before it got packed, then drove to the shady side of the park for a picnic with stuff I already had, and ended up at the library's cool basement browsing old magazines for two hours. Total spent was maybe $3 on a lemonade. Has anyone else turned a bad weather day into a free hangout? What's your go-to when it's too hot or wet to do anything normal?

Skip the beach entirely and hit a movie theater matinee, they blast AC for two hours for like 8 bucks.

they blast AC for two hours" is the real move honestly. Last summer I did that on a brutal heatwave day and honestly it saved my whole afternoon. Plus you get to nap in the dark if the movie's boring, win win.
