Used to spend $40 on movie tickets, now I do blankie picnics in the living room

Last month my girlfriend and I realized we were dropping like $60 a week just on theaters, popcorn, and parking. So we started doing this thing where we push the coffee table aside, lay out a bunch of blankets and pillows, and make a fort kind of setup. We each pick a movie from the library (free with our card) and take turns. We make popcorn at home with butter and that cheap seasoning salt. Honestly the floor is uncomfortable after 20 minutes but the whole vibe is way more fun than the theater. Plus we can pause whenever to talk or grab drinks without missing anything. Has anyone else swapped a paid outing for a home version and found it better? What's your best cheap date replacement that actually sticks?
