Warning: my $8 inflatable kayak popped mid-lake and I paddled back with a trash bag

Took my cheap dinghy out to Lake Merritt in Oakland last month, you know, the kind you blow up with your breath. Got maybe 200 feet from shore when the seam just gave out with this sad hiss. Water started seeping in fast, so I grabbed the crumpled grocery bag I had in my backpack, stuffed it under the seat to slow the leak. Paddled back with one arm bailing with a coffee cup, the other trying to keep my dignity. Dried off on a bench for an hour. Has anyone else had a budget water toy fall apart live in front of strangers, or was it just my big brain move?
