PSA: I thought those infrared chimney cameras were just a gimmick
My boss in Cleveland insisted we buy one for $1200, and I rolled my eyes thinking it was just a fancy toy. We used it on a stubborn creosote blockage last Tuesday, and it showed a crack in the flue liner we NEVER would have seen with just a light. Has anyone else had a tool they doubted completely change how they inspect?

Maybe it's just one crack though, not exactly a game changer.

Right? I felt the same about thermal cameras for finding hot spots in panels. What seemed like a weird splotch on the screen was a loose connection starting to melt!
