Three years in and I just found a better brush angle trick
Last week I was on a job in Portland where the cap was barely seated and I kept fighting soot buildup on the top flue. A retired sweep watched me for a minute and said to rotate the brush 15 degrees off vertical while pushing up. Cut my time on that stack from 45 minutes to 20, anyone else got a move like that they wish they knew sooner?

Holy crap, forty five minutes on one stack? That's brutal... I would've quit that job halfway through and called it a day. That angle trick sounds like pure sorcery honestly.

Those 45 minutes on one stack honestly gave me secondhand anxiety just reading about it. @william_jackson65 you're way braver than me, I would've prob thrown the whole tool belt across the room by minute ten. But ngl, that angle trick part is what really got me, sounds like some kind of magic you'd see on a YouTube short, not something you actually pull off at work. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how someone even figures that out in the first place. Tbh I bet the guy who taught you that had some war stories to tell too.
