TIL a $500 inspection camera can't replace a good brush and a flashlight.
I argued with a new sweep in Boise who swore his tech made the old ways obsolete, but his fancy gear missed a major crack I spotted with basic tools. Anyone else see tech making us miss the simple stuff?

Exactly, it's like the gear does the thinking for them. Same thing happened with a plumber using a thermal camera to find a leak, spent an hour on it. I walked over, felt the wall with my hand, it was soaked and cold right there. @linda_ellis14 is spot on, you get lost in the feed and forget to just look at the actual thing. All that money for a screen that makes you see less.

Ever notice how new tech can make people forget how to actually look at something? It's like the screen becomes the whole job and your own eyes stop working. That camera gives a single narrow view, but a flashlight and brush let you see the whole area and feel the surface. The best tool is still knowing what a problem looks like and taking the time to check properly.

Honestly saw the same thing with a guy using a drone for roof checks. He was so focused on the live feed he missed a whole section of rotten shingles you could see from the ground. Sometimes the new gear just adds more steps to hide behind.
