Unpopular opinion: My worst job was a simple ranch house in Omaha with a hidden raccoon nest.
I was halfway up the flue when a whole family of them came tumbling down, scattering soot and panic everywhere. I had to calmly back down, call animal control, and explain to the homeowner why their chimney was now a wildlife refuge. What's your protocol for an unexpected animal encounter on the job?

A snake in the toilet, @jade540? That's the stuff of nightmares. I saw a video once where a guy found a whole python curled up in the bowl. How does it even get up there? Do they swim through the pipes? Now I have to check every single time I sit down.

Oh man, that's a nightmare... you think you're just doing a routine job and suddenly you're in a wildlife documentary. @felixramirez is probably right about checking the toilet, but honestly, I'd rather face a raccoon family in a chimney than a snake in the bowl. At least with raccoons you can see them coming, you know? A snake is just sitting there waiting to ruin your whole day... I guess the protocol for me would be to just walk away and let someone else deal with it.
