Ventless gas logs changed my whole routine after that house in Denver
I swept for this couple out near Aurora last fall. They had ventless logs installed maybe 8 years ago. I opened the damper out of habit, almost sent carbon monoxide right back into the room. That was a wake up call. Now I check the unit type before I touch anything, but I still get crews who swear ventless means skip the smoke shelf checks. Which side are you on, treat ventless like a different beast or keep the same sweep steps anyway?
Why do we do that with everything, not just fireplaces? Same tool, same label, but if the inside works different you better treat it different. Kind of like assuming a gas stove and a wood stove need the same care just because they both make heat.
