I saw a huge pile of food waste at a festival in Austin and it made me start composting at home.
Now I keep a small bin under my sink and it's cut our regular trash by like a third, anyone else find a simple switch that actually worked?

Honestly, composting seems like a lot of extra work for a tiny result. My building doesn't even have a green bin pickup, so I'd have to drive my food scraps somewhere. That just burns gas and defeats the whole point. It's easier to just toss it and focus on bigger things like buying less plastic.

Consider how much food waste just rots in landfills making methane gas. Composting cuts that down a lot, even if you have to drop it off. It's not a tiny thing when you add it all up.

Oh wow, that's awesome! I started vermicomposting with a small worm bin on my balcony. It's kind of fun and doesn't smell at all, plus the worms make amazing plant food.
