Just saw a chart showing how much plastic waste my city sends to landfills each week

I was looking at our local waste management report online last night, and it said we throw out over 500 tons of plastic every seven days. That's just my city, not even the whole county. I knew it was bad, but seeing that exact number really hit me. It's all stuff that could have been recycled or just not bought in the first place. What's one simple thing you've done to cut down on plastic at home?

That recycling number is mostly wrong, most plastic can't actually be recycled.

Ugh, I've been sorting my trash for nothing.

Honestly, that's a pretty bold claim. Where did you hear most plastic can't be recycled? Tbh, I thought those numbers were a standard thing. It would be really helpful to know what makes them wrong. Feels like we're all just guessing if the system itself is broken.
