My neighbor called me out for watering my lawn at noon

Last summer I was out there with the hose at 2pm in Phoenix, and my neighbor Carol yelled over the fence that I was wasting water and killing my grass lol. She was right, I had no idea watering in direct sun just evaporates half of it and fries the blades. Now I only water at 6am and my HOA bill dropped by like $15 a month. Anyone else get called out by a neighbor for something dumb like this?

Good on Carol for calling it out. Learning to water at dawn or dusk saved my yard and my water bill too. That direct sun watering really is just pouring money down the drain.

And @milaprice, I switched to drip irrigation last summer and it was a game changer too.

Haha @reesemiller, I totally get that "game changer" feeling. I tried drip irrigation once but ended up watering my own shoes because I can't figure out a hose timer, oops. Did you have to mess with a lot of fittings to get yours set up?
