My solar panel install turned into a roofing disaster last Tuesday
Had a guy out to mount panels on my garage and he drilled straight into a hidden pipe. Water sprayed everywhere for 10 minutes before we found the shutoff. Has anyone else dealt with contractors skipping the stud finder?

That "hidden pipe" excuse is weak. After my own garage roof leak from a bad install, I started taking photos of every pipe and wire route before anyone touches a tool, it saved me from another disaster last year.

Hidden pipe" is just contractor speak for "I wasn't paying attention." Sounds like that guy was more interested in getting the job done fast than doing it right. I'd be sending him the water bill for that 10 minute shower you didn't ask for.

Oh come on, is it really that big of a deal? A contractor missing a pipe happens sometimes, especially in old houses where nothing is where it's supposed to be. I've seen way worse screw ups that actually caused real damage, like flooding a basement or ripping out a load bearing wall. A 10 minute shower you didn't plan for is annoying sure, but it's not the end of the world. Seems like everyone's looking for a reason to get fired up over something small.
