Overheard a landscaper in my neighborhood talking about 'carbon lawns'

I was walking my dog yesterday and heard a guy telling his client to stop bagging grass clippings. He said leaving them on the lawn puts carbon back in the soil, and that a single yard can hold a lot over time (he mentioned a number like 300 pounds a year, which blew my mind). It got me thinking about all the small, normal things we do that might actually help. Has anyone else looked into making their own yard or garden better for this kind of thing, maybe with different plants or less gas-powered stuff?

Sounds like a bunch of greenwashing to me. My neighbor tried that and his yard looked like a total mess all summer. Plus, who even knows if that carbon number is real?

Yeah, I get where elizabeth900 is coming from, but my messy lawn actually feels pretty good.
