Question about my compost bin turning into a science project
Tried to start a simple compost pile in my backyard in Austin, but it kept attracting raccoons and smelling weird for like two whole months. I finally figured out I was adding way too many orange peels and not enough dry leaves, which a gardening blog said throws the whole balance off. Has anyone else had a compost fail that took forever to fix?

My neighbor's compost bin literally caught fire once from too much grass clippings.

My compost pile got so hot last summer it cooked a potato. I was weirdly proud of it for a minute. Then I realized I'm the kind of person who gets excited about hot garbage.
