Warning: My solar panel purchase feels like a moral compromise now.

I went green to reduce my carbon footprint, but the unethical mining for materials has me second-guessing. Can we truly be ethical consumers in a broken system?

After researching Tesla's supply chain for my Model 3, I had the same sinking feeling... my solar install felt like a victory until I dug into the silicon mining reports... it's a constant tug-of-war between doing good and knowing the cost.

Wyatt_jones describing that "constant tug-of-war" captures the EXACT frustration. Digging deeper, it's not just silicon. The cobalt for batteries or neodymium in magnets often comes from appalling conditions. Our choices become about minimizing harm, not avoiding it, which feels inherently flawed. Real change needs systemic pressure on companies to clean their supply chains, not just consumer guilt.
