Warning: that perfect 70 degree week in March scared me more than a heatwave
Last spring we had 5 straight days of 72 degrees and zero rain. Birds were singing, flowers blooming two weeks early. Felt amazing. But I knew it was wrong. My neighbor was thrilled, planting tomatoes in March. I told her to wait. Sure enough a hard freeze hit April 10th. Killed every single early bloomer. The cherry trees dropped all their fruit before it formed. That fake spring tricked everyone. It's happening more now, these false warm spells that break natural cycles. Anyone else notice your local ecosystem getting confused by these weird warm snaps?

Oh man, that exact thing happened here last spring, my dad had his whole garden in the ground by April 1st thinking the warm weather was here to stay and we lost everything to a late frost. The birds were building nests a month early and I just had this sinking feeling watching it all happen, nature's totally out of whack now.

Gotta say, the birds building nests a month early really gets me... that's one of those signs you just can't ignore. I remember watching robins start gathering twigs in February a couple years back and thinking, "this ain't right." Then bam, a snowstorm in April wiped out half the new growth in the neighborhood. Nature's timing is so off it's almost spooky... like the seasons are just guessing now.

Yep, Mother Nature's been hitting the snooze button on winter and then slamming the alarm clock at the last second. Our local squirrels are stockpiling acorns in July and I'm half expecting to see a polar bear sunbathing next week.
