Appreciation post: A worn-out collet nut almost cost me a $3k spindle rebuild last Thursday

It was just a tiny bit of play I felt during a tool change, but my lead hand said 'run it and see'. Has anyone else caught a failure that close?

What did the play feel like exactly?

Caught a loose drawbar last month the same way. That gut feeling is worth listening to, saved me a massive headache.

Gut feelings can make you miss real problems though.
