Hit 10,000 parts without a single reject - still can't believe it

Been running this same Haas VF-2 for 3 years now and I hit 10,000 aluminum brackets last Thursday without a single dimensional reject. The boss walked over and just said 'nice' then walked away, but I felt like I won a championship. Has anyone else had a long streak like that and how did you keep your focus through it?

Hold on, are we really calling 10,000 parts a championship win? I mean, that's good and all, but my old shop had a guy who ran over 50,000 titanium hip implants without a single scratch off a 5 axis and we just gave him a pat on the back. The boss not making a big deal out of it is probably just his way of saying its what he pays you for. Focus is just doing the job right every time, not some special trick.

Honestly that's a hell of a streak and you should be proud of it. I've been in shops long enough to know that 10k parts with no rejects is no accident, it takes real discipline. The way I keep focus through long runs is I break the day into blocks like 500 parts at a time and give myself a tiny goal for each block, like checking my offsets on part 250 every time. Also I make sure to step away from the machine for a few minutes every couple hours even if it's just to grab water or stretch, because your eyes and brain start to drift if you stare at that spindle the whole time.
