Yeah, that's a lesson you only forget once. A quick skim cut gets rid of any scale or warping from the mill. Saves so much headache later.

Ever try to skip that step? I burned up a brand new endmill on some nasty mill scale last month. Now I always take that light cleanup pass first.

Ugh, same. I used to think it was a waste of time. Totally get what @alice_kim means now. Learned that lesson the hard way too.
