Overheard two guys at the tool crib arguing about a 0.0002" tolerance
One was saying it was a waste of time, the other said it was the whole job. It made me think about how I used to rush the last few passes on our old Haas. Now I slow down and hit the number, even if it takes an extra five minutes. Anyone else find that a tiny bit of extra care saves a lot of call-backs?

Tell Laura_black31 it's for stuff like aerospace seals or high-end bearings. That extra five minutes is way cheaper than a whole part failing.

The whole job" is a stretch. I've seen guys chase that 0.0002 on parts that just sit inside a housing and never move. If it's not a critical sealing surface or a bearing journal, you're basically polishing a turd. You're adding machine time, tool wear, and inspection headaches for zero real benefit. I'd rather ship a part that's tight enough and works fine than waste an hour fighting tenths that nobody will ever check.
