Unpopular opinion: Stop ignoring the coolant concentration check on your Haas VF-2 after every 40 hours of runtime.

I've seen three machines in our shop get wrecked from rust and poor chip evacuation because guys just top off the tank without testing, so has anyone else had a shop enforce a strict log for this?

I mean, that sounds like overkill to me. Most guys just keep an eye on the color and smell, and that's been fine for years. Adding a whole log just makes more busywork.

Totally agree with you, @margaret_jackson73. I tried keeping a detailed log once and it just felt like pointless homework after a week. The old ways work fine without making it a second job.

Exactly, plus once you've been doing it long enough you can just tell when something's off without needing to write it down lol. Overthinking it just takes the fun out of the hobby.
