Vent: My Haas VF-2's coolant pump seized up right in the middle of a 300-piece aluminum run last Thursday.

I had to shut everything down, pull the pump, and found the impeller was completely packed with swarf from a broken chip conveyor belt that happened a week prior.

That's the worst, when one broken part takes out another one down the line.

Come on, is it really that big of a deal? Stuff breaks sometimes.

Honestly, a week back I had a similar nightmare on my old Mazak. The chip auger jammed up and I let it slide for a few days. Then the coolant pump started making this grinding noise and just quit. When I pulled it apart, the impeller was completely wrapped in stringy aluminum chips. Took me a whole afternoon to clean everything out and replace the seals. That chain reaction of failures is brutal, man. You fix one thing and it just trashes something else later.
