Why does everyone say you need a probe on a VF2? Ran one in Tucson for 3 weeks without it
I was at a job in Tucson filling in for a guy out on leave. Their VF2 had no tool probe and no renishaw, just a edge finder and a test indicator older than me. Everyone online says you can't hold tenths on a Haas without a probe. I touched off 47 parts over 3 weeks with a $12 edge finder and a 0.0005 indicator and every one checked good on the CMM. The probe is nice, sure, but it's a crutch for bad setups not a magic wand. Anyone else running old school and getting better numbers than the probe guys?
