Heard two beginners arguing about whether to start with Python or JavaScript and it made me think

I was at a library coding meetup last Saturday and overheard this guy saying Python is the only way to start because of how simple it is. The other person argued JavaScript is better because you can see results in a browser right away and it keeps you motivated. They went back and forth for like 15 minutes. It got me wondering if there's really a wrong answer here or if it just depends on what kind of stuff you want to build. I started with Python and it took me 6 months before I could make anything visual. Would I have stuck with it longer if I had picked JavaScript and seen buttons and colors showing up in a few days? Has anyone else switched languages early on and regretted or been glad they did?

Ugh, it's like when you try to follow a recipe and the first ten steps are just washing dishes. Nobody wants to do the boring prep work before you see the payoff.
