I replaced a 900 page Python book with the official tutorial and learned more in 2 weeks
Bought a 900 page Python book for $45 at a Half Price Books in Houston about 6 months ago and got stuck on chapter 2 for weeks. Then I just went to the official Python docs tutorial online and finished it in 2 days because every example actually ran without typos. The huge books love to teach you every detail of syntax before you build anything real, which is exactly backwards. Anyone else ditch the big textbooks and just use the free docs?
