The community center in Tacoma offers free Python classes and half the room still can't print hello world
I sat in on one Saturday and watched 9 people copy code off a projector without typing a single line themselves. If you can't write it from scratch, you don't know it yet, so why do beginners keep pretending typing along counts as practice?
The real killer is the projector itself. Nobody can read code on a screen and learn anything, you have to make mistakes on your own keyboard to get it. Those 9 people would learn more from one broken script than a whole class of copying.
