Barista at my local shop corrected my pour over and it clicked

I was doing a V60 at Blue Bottle in Austin and this barista asked if he could adjust my grind size, said I was going too fine. Took his advice, dropped from 18 to 16 clicks on my hand grinder, and the cup came out way sweeter. Anyone else ever have a pro fix a habit you didn't know was broken?

see i had the opposite experience with mine. went from 16 to 18 clicks and got way more body and less astringency. the whole "finer = bitter" thing is so much more about your water temp and ratio than people give it credit for. not saying the barista was wrong, maybe your grinder is just calibrated different than mine. but i've had pros tell me stuff that sounded super confident and then it just made my cup worse at home. you gotta trust your own tongue over any click count.
