Can we talk about how I thought a $200 hand grinder was a scam until my brother-in-law made me blind taste it
Two years ago I was all about my $40 electric blade grinder and thought anyone dropping $200 on a hand grinder was just burning cash for a hobby. My brother-in-law in Austin handed me two cups at Thanksgiving, one ground in his fancy hand grinder and one in mine, and I picked the cheap one just to prove a point. Then he told me both cups were from the same beans and the only difference was the grind, and I couldn't finish my cup because the bitter aftertaste was all I could taste. I still use my blade grinder for cold brew, but for pour over on my nights off I get why people spend the money. Did anyone else have a similar moment where you hated a piece of gear until someone ruined your setup for you?
