Got told my pour over was "too bitter" by a coworker who drinks instant
I brought in my usual morning brew from my V60 setup with Ethiopian beans I ordered online and a guy in the breakroom said it was "too bitter" compared to his Folgers single cup. That comment made me change my grind size from medium fine to a coarser setting and drop my water temp by about 5 degrees. Has anyone else had to adjust their whole method because of one piece of feedback from someone who clearly doesn't drink real coffee?

That's a wild take honestly. If you actually like the taste of your pour over and it's dialed in the way you like it, why would you change anything based on someone who clearly doesn't appreciate what you're doing?

I used to be the same way honestly, I thought anyone who drank instant didn't know what they were talking about. But then a buddy who drinks Folgers told me my cold brew was way too strong and it actually made me realize I was overcomplicating things and missing the simple coffee taste people actually like. I dialed back my ratio and temp after that and my brews got better for everyone, not just me.
