Guy at the counter yesterday told me my pour over routine was overcomplicated and it actually made me rethink everything

He said I didn't need a gooseneck kettle and a scale for a cup of coffee at 6am, and honestly after trying his way this morning with just a mug and a regular pot I finally got why simplicity beats gear every time, has anyone else had a stranger question your whole setup and been right?

You ain't kidding @the_charles, I did the same thing last week and felt kinda dumb for all that extra stuff.

Same thing happened to me last week... just boiling water straight from the tap works fine.
