Guy at the roastery told me to ditch my espresso scale
He said weighing shots was for nerds, just eyeball it. Tried his method for a week, my shots were all over the place. Had to dump 3 drinks before I went back to the scale.

Keep the scale. That guy's a hack who doesn't care about consistency.

Ngl, I had almost the exact same experience when a barista in Portland told me scales were pointless. Four days into eyeballing it and I burnt through nearly a whole bag of beans trying to get a drink that didn't taste like regret. There's a reason scales are standard in every competition and good cafe - consistency isn't optional if you care about what's in your cup.
